DIY washclothes

Oppdatert: 6. feb. 2023

These washcloths are easy to knit, and the whole project takes up little space in the bag. The perfect holiday knit or waiting knit. Seed stitch is a combination of straight and purl stitches, and fits very well with washcloths.

We have used cotton yarn as it has the best absorbency and can be washed at 60 degrees.

The cloth should be knitted back and forth.

The first and last stitches are the edge stitches, these should be knitted as follows: The first stitch is lifted over with the thread on the front of the work.

The last stitch should always be knitted K.

Cast on 52 stitches on circular needle us 6

Start at and knit two K stitches, the next stitch ( stitch no. 3 ) is knitted P. Knit every other row K and P, but remember that the last stitch should always be worked K even if it means you get two K stitches in a row.

1 needle: K - K -P - K - P, continue the needle as follows. Knit the last stitch K

2 needles: lift off with thread in front of the piece - P - K - P, continue the needle as follows. Knit the last stitch K

3 needles: lift off with thread in front of the piece - K - P - K, continue the needle as follows. Knit the last stitch K

Here is a video that shows how to lift off the thread to get a nice edge.

You should knit K over and P over K, then you get what we call seed stitch.

K = Knit Stitch

P = Purl Stich
